Boris O'Klein, 1887-1983

Boris O'Klein was a Russian of French descent, he was trained as an artist/illustrator and from an early age was producing cartoons for French magazines.

Over time he became more and more known for dog subjects. His work is informal and in a comic style, depicting Parisienne street dogs who very much mirror people in their behaviour and actions.

Often it is easier - eg. more acceptable - to anthropomorphise dogs or other animals to point out human foibles.

Whatever the case his work is good fun and enjoyable.
